This fun earth science activity kit contains 5 real pieces of raw amber, a workstation tray, 6 special grades of gemstone polishing sandpaper and a magnifying glass. You may find insects worth hundreds of dollars or nothing at all.
Each genuine piece of Amber must be polished in order to reveal it's hidden treasures.

- Instructions for Polishing the amber in this kit:
Step 1: Fill the activity tray with a half inch of water
Step 2: Select the roughest piece of sandpaper (#1), and start working the amber piece by sanding it in the water. The goal is to create a flat window on one side of the piece
Step 3:
Now switch to sandpaper #2. Keep working the amber to smooth out the window. You should spend at least a few minutes with each grade of sandpaper. Continue in order until you’ve used all 6.
The more you sand, the more clearly you’ll see what’s inside.
Step 4:
When you’re all done sanding, your amber should have a smooth, clear window. Try rubbing a few drops of canola oil on the window and see if that helps the visibility. Then get your magnifying glass and a light and see if you can find any creatures, plants, or other inclusions inside!
